Calcium


Calcium is a mineral that  necessary for the life to building bones and keeping it healthy. About 99 percent of the calcium is in our bodies especially in bones and teeth. Every day, we lose calcium through our skin, nails, hair, sweat, urine and feces.Moreover, sources of Calcium include dairy products, such as low-fat and non-fat milk, yogurt and cheese are high in calcium, Certain green vegetables,soymilk, cereals, snacks,and  breads.

Achievements & turning points

Achievements:


  • In 1927 he was engaged by the Aborigines Protection Board as handyman on Bulgandramine Aboriginal reserve
  •  He took an interest in the health and education of the children at Walhallow Aboriginal School and became president of the parents' and citizens' association. 
  • he opposed the establishment of a rocket-range in Central Australia. 
  •  he was appointed a justice of the peace. 
  • In 1956 Groves became first president of the Aboriginal-Australian Fellowship (formed in Sydney to bring together Aborigines and Whites);
  • In 1958 he was a founding member of the Federal Council for Aboriginal Advancement.





Turning points:


  • In 1923 Groves was apprenticed to a plumber, but found it difficult to obtain jobs. For a while he worked a horse scoop on the construction of the Dubbo to Werris Creek railway.
  • He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 14 April 1943 and served in Australia. After his discharge on 26 January 1945

Achievements



Mandela was able to finish his degree and qualified as a Lawyer.

 In 1952 Mandela and Tambo opened the first Black Law firm in South Africa. 

In 1944 Mandela helped found the ANC Youth League, whose Programme of Action was adopted by the ANC in 1949.

 Conducting their own defence they eventually proved to be victorious

He helped to keep other Men’s spirits high and never compromised his political principles when offered earlt release. 

 1994-1999 On 10 May 1994, Nelson Mandela became a president of South Africa until June 1999.

 Nelson Mandelais was associated with many educational programmes and initiatives such as Make Poverty History Campaign.

In 1993 Nelson Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prizejointly with F.W. De Klerk





turning points


At university Nelson became increasingly aware of the unjust nature of South African Society.

 in 1960 the Sharpeville massacre of 63 black South African’s changed the whole political climate.

1962  Mandela had been arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Robben Island prison.

Edith married James Cowan


In  1890s
Edith Cowan became involved in voluntary organizations


 1880- 1891.
Edith and James  had four daughters and a son


 in 1894 
she was the Karrakatta Women's Club's first secretary and later vice-president and president.

She worked with the Ministering Children's League  and the House of Mercy for unmarried mothers (Alexandra Home for Women)

in 1903
she went overseas  to Britain and Europe

in 1906
A foundation member of the Children's Protection Society

in 1907
The society was instrumental in the passing of the State Children Act

she pioneered  day nursery for working mother's children

in 1909 
Cowan was an initiator of the Women's Service Guild

she was prominent in the creation of the Western Australian National Council of Women

she went overseas  to Britain and Europe

 in 1915
She was among the first women appointed to its bench

she led finally to the opening of the King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women

She was a foundation member of Co-Freemasonry in her State  and the first female member of the Anglican Social Questions Committee

Cowan was one of five women candidates

The Women's Legal Status Act, which she introduced  as a private member, opened the legal profession to women

she elections West Perth business interests stood a strong candidate in T. A. L. Davy. A Labor candidate and the continuing conflict between the two major women's organizations further depleted her support and she lost


 in 1925
she went overseas  to the United States of America as an Australian delegate to the sixth convention of the International Council

Cowan was a founder of the (Royal) Western Australian Historical Society

in 1927
She failed again

in 1929
She was active in planning the State's  centenary celebrations

on 9 June 1932
she died  and was buried in the Anglican section of Karrakatta cemetery
